WHY? WHY? WHY? Compound Words are everywhere!
You use compound words when you write! You see them when you read!

ladybug This is a Compound Word!
Put together 2 words to create a new word. lady bug = ladybug

Helpful Hint + = lady + bug = ladybug
If you can draw a picture for each word, then it’s a great compound word. + = lady bug = ladybug
