PRINCE2® Course Outline Foundation, Practitioner and Combined
PRINCE2® (Projects IN Controlled Environments) is a process-based approach for project management providing an easily tailored and scalable method for the management of all types of projects. The method is the de-facto standard for project management in the UK and is practiced worldwide. The continued international development of PRINCE2 examinations, training and course material is contributing significantly to the recognition of PRINCE2 as a truly international standard. More and more people are having the opportunity to benefit from the training courses and certifications that are available worldwide. Key features of PRINCE2: Focus on business justification Defined organisation structure for the project management team Product-based planning approach Emphasis on dividing the project into manageable and controllable stages Flexibility that can be applied at a level appropriate to the project. Organisations and individuals requiring a controlled approach to managing projects. Suitable for project managers, team managers, project support and assurance staff, and managers from any discipline, and is particularly aimed at people who are responsible for managing projects. Anyone involved with projects will benefit from the course. This course is also suitable for candidates preparing for the Re-Registration exam. After successful completion of the Foundation course, delegates will gain an understanding (Foundation Level) of the areas below. The Practitioner course builds on this understanding enabling the delegates to apply this knowledge to a given PRINCE2 organisational situation. Exercises provide hands on experience of “doing”. The Foundation course covers the areas below. The Practitioner course builds on this understanding enabling the delegates to apply this knowledge to manage risk within an organization. Introduction the Principles of PRINCE2® Business Case Organization Plans Progress Risk Quality Change All PRINCE2® Processes from Start-up to Closing a Project. Tailoring PRINCE2® Realising the Benefits and Closing a Programme APMG Foundation Exam APMG Practitioner Exam There is no pre-requisite required at the start of this course, however in order to continue onto the Practitioner exam, a pass is required at Foundation. Pre-course study is recommended to enable a depth of understanding and more than exams to be gained from the course. Delegates should spend approximately hours studying this pre-course material in order to be well prepared for the course The Foundation course lasts three days with a one hour, closed book exam on day three, which requires 50% to pass. The Practitioner course lasts two days with a two and half hour, open book exam on day five, which requires 55% to pass. The combined Foundation and Practitioner course lasts five consecutive days with exams on days three and five.
