What is required of a LC student:

What is a good way to choose?
Keep options open. Consider subjects you are good at. Consider subjects you are interested in. Subjects required for the area(s) you are interested in. List in order of preference

Implications of not taking certain subjects:
If you do not have a subject that is deemed ‘Essential’ for entry you will not get into that course. Two year rule exists. Example: H4 Chemistry= Dentistry UCC; Dietetics TU Dublin Please refer to Qualifax for details of this!! Students> Useful tools> Min. subject requirements> LC subjects

The Third Language We are not producing enough language graduates!!! All students take English and Irish (unless officially exempt) The Third Language= French for majority of students here. Can also be another language e.g. Spanish, Polish etc. Must be a recognised language by the State Examinations Commission-

What colleges require a Third Language
Students> Useful tools> Minimum subject requirements NOTE: If you have an official language exemption due to a diagnosed learning disability you do not need to worry about needing the second or third language. If you have an exemption Irish because you received your primary education outside the state you will need 'another language' in certain cases.
