Objectives To build capacity in universities and regions in Brazil, Chile and Europe to understand the mechanisms and opportunities for fostering local cooperation to promote innovation, enterprise and internationalisation To understand the barriers and challenges in building these partnerships and how these may be overcome To build capacity in universities in Brazil and Chile to work with other smaller universities in their countries, especially in peripheral place To promote dialogue and cooperation between countries in Latin America and Europe To promote dialogue between institutions in Latin America and Europe To bring new learning from Latin America back to Europe and vice-versa to build understanding of ‘what works’ in mobilising universities for regional development To build mutual understanding of what it means to be a ‘civic’ or socially responsible university.

A series of learning laboratories in each place Exploring each theme twice With inputs and challenge from experts and local stakeholders Outputs Development of a handbook and training programme To be disseminated via Partners+ More than 100 stakeholders trained Outcomes 12 new long term local partnerships formed (2 per country) An international network for HEIs and partners established for further learning and cooperation Impact More effective engagement and mobilisation of HEIs and their partners to collaborate in tackling societal challenges in both Europe and Latin America
