Week 8 (July 11 – July 15, 2016)
Accomplishments:
Read patent “Room Identification Using Acoustic Features in a Recording”
Read tutorial on MFCC (Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient)
divides audio sample into frames, and calculates coefficients based on power spectrum of frame (mathematically modeled the way human hearing works)
Used pyAudioAnalyzer to extract MFCCs and other features
Collected lots of data
student union and lab in partnership III

Wav files did not work with pyAudioAnalyzer
Resolved: Headers were incompatible
Tried to use microphone to sample at kHz and accidentally broke the photon
Resolved: fixed the photon
Decided to record high quality audio on phone

Collect more data (including outside)
