Background Issues The issues bordering on Service Exports in SSA
20/04/2019 Background Issues The issues bordering on Service Exports in SSA Service exports: most stable (e.g. shocks) compared manufacturing, fuel & mining, and agric. In SSA, share of exports (% of GDP) lower than other developing regions e.g. Latin America & the Caribbean (LAC); Middle East & North Africa (MENA). E.g. service exports in GDP for SSA was 7.72% compared to 18.95% for MENA (World Bank 2017). Post-Field Defence

Motivation Indicators of institutional quality & ICT usage are lower in SSA than other developing countries. Export potentials, as improvements in ICT especially 2000s have reduced cost of trading services. This requires further empirical exploration, which forms one of the motivations for this study.
