Christian Perspective The Necklace Team are Christians Our initial focus –Social needs of the community on Shilton Park –Families Extend this focus –Spiritual needs of the community Working Outside the Box

Making a Difference Given the lives people lead and demands on their time –We need to be relevant –Accessible –Stimulating –Use 21 st Century communication methods which do not rely solely on the written word

Doing Gods Work Community Friendship Relationships Service We endeavour to practice what we preach – Worship through Action and Teach by example.

Initial Focus To help form a community on the Shilton Park Estate hence –Necklace Fun Days – Sept 04 & 05 plus the Treasure Hunt in 06 –Barn Dances – Mar 06 & 07 –Necklace Family Hour – Twice per month in term time since Sep 04 –Buggy Club since Sep 04 –Drop-in for Golden Assemblies at School –Help with St Johns School website

Meeting Our Spiritual & Emotional Needs The discussion sessions for the adults at our Family Hour began to address the need Alpha courses and home groups during 2007 Jesus & Me (JAM) After School Club Time for some form of more formal Christian worship and teaching

DEVELOPMENT OF SPCC We have been meeting on the first and third Sundays every month. After Easter 2011 we will add a service on the second Sunday of the month at the vicarage, 8 Trefoil Way, which will be truly a church plant with bible readings and an opportunity for communion.

DEVELOPMENT OF SPCC SPCC members meet on Wednesday for coffee/lunch from 10.30 at the Community Café. SPCC members come to a home group to discuss the content of a chosen book with a religious theme

Getting more help SPCC is run by a small team of volunteers who meet monthly to plan the activities. A rota is maintained for each SPCC service to cover the basic activities Yes, we need more people involved, helping.

Funding Now that St Johns Primary School has introduced its charging policy we have to find £95 per month on top of running expenses. We welcome donations which can be gift aided

The Whole Picture Bring people to form a community Developing friendships and relationships Showing a Christian way of life Offering spiritual and emotional help Bringing people to Christ We are only part way along the journey – we are making a difference This is Gods work!
