How Mongols increased power
Genghis Khan- means “Universal Ruler” Born Temijin in Central Asia in 1100s Conquered the areas Mongolia, Central Asia, Russia, Korea. Victories strong due to strong warriors, skilled horsemen and bowman, and borrowed new military technology such as the cannon. United Mongol tribes

Conquered China Created Yuan dynasty Gave best govt jobs to Mongol workers Blended both Chinese and Mongols ways

The Mongol Impact Mongol warriors spread fear and violence throughout regions they conquered. Mongol leaders ruled with tolerance. The conquered could live as before as long as they paid tribute to the Mongols Lasting effects of Russia Mongols ruled for about 250 years Government- Mongol rule served as model for Russian leaders in later years. Isolation- cut off Russia from Europe and deprived them from further advances.

Mongols established peace and order The capital Khanbalik (now Beijing)- developed under Mongol rule and flourished Chinese resented Mongolian power in China and resentment and uprising occurred. Pax Mongolia and Global Trade- period of peace Trade increased- Mongols made the Silk Road a safe passage between East and West Marco Polo- an Italian merchant- visited Kublai Khan and spread European and Mongolian culture
