Why online lesson planning works How to roll out lesson planning Quick ways to convert your lessons Beyond teaching resources, using Google and/or Microsoft with Frog Students working online – ePortfolios Working Together - FrogConnect

Why online lesson planning works
Reduce workload Work as a department to write lesson Great for Cover lessons Students keep learning in your absence Peer-review Build the best lessons between your team Independent learning And useful for revision SLT Overview Always ready for Ofsted Cover costs reduced Better learners Online lesson planning does not appear to benefit the individual, but it does benefit the students, parents and SLT. And in fact, online lessons do benefit individual teachers, as the workload is shared and peer-reviewed. Short-term pain, mid and long term gain.

Be the most popular teacher in your school
No DBS checks on staff and customers Students have to leave their other lessons early or arrive late Free WiFI Comfortable seating Easy access to refreshments Staff might say, but I’ve got my own system worked out. I can share a secret with you. How to be the best loved, most engaging teacher in your school. It’s simple, have your lessons in Starbucks. There’s free WiFI, comfy seats and the kids can get hot, posh drinks as much as they want. Of course, no one in the café is DBS checked, students have to leave previous lessons early to get to the café and they’ll arrive late to their next lesson, but that doesn’t affect you? Teaching and resources do not happen in isolation. Teachers are part of a larger ethos and just as you cannot do your own thing in the real world, you have to work within the confines of the school ICT policies too.

Don’t do “all or nothing”
Use Frog to enhance a lesson. There’s nothing wrong with PowerPoint. Look at using forums, walls, FrogSnap etc… to build on chalk-and-talk. Work with a single department or pick a friend and collaborate. Produce one scheme of work with every feature you can imagine. Use this as a reference of possibilities. Frog only has a few short term wins, schools have told us it is hugely time-saving in the medium- and long-terms, but you have to help your overworked colleagues see the wood for the trees. A little bit of work now, leads to big time-savings later.

Get help Create a group of student as Digital Leaders Get them building sites from teachers lessons Let them “train” staff in preparing resources Call us It’s pretty funny to watch a young 20-something teacher have to be shown how to use technology by a student. This only happens once. Their pride never allows it to happen again. North Lakes has Frog Geeks Or get us in for consultancy/training. If you are stuck and need some help, or just need backup – then get in touch We want to help Consultancy and Training can be arranged Photos courtesy of Farringdon School

Keep Frog in the foreground
Run twilight sessions and drop-ins Present at Teachmeets Ask for 5 minutes at every staff briefing to demonstrate another feature of Frog Read the Ribbits and individuals about relevant information Target teachers running school trips, mock elections and use Frog’s pre-built templates with them Get your office admin using Frog – Keep a note of how much money Frog is saving. Who remembers when all your SLT would talk about was: Science for Public Understanding? Literacy across all subjects? Wellbeing? VLEs? Pressures shift, causing your school leaders focus to shift, but the original requirements remain. If you invest time and effort, (and ask your colleagues to invest time and effort) in Frog or any online learning, then YOU have to maintain the focus despite different pressures. We know from schools, (we’ve heard from schools today), that Frog is adaptable and flexible enough to be the solution, however if YOU do not keep the focus on Frog, it will not be thought of when your SLT are looking for solutions. You owe it to yourself and your colleagues that Frog is the central resource, because it will help and save time and save money, but only if it is being used.

FrogConnect: Two models
Peer to Peer Hub and Spoke MAT FrogConnect has been designed with our schools, we have been working with a number of MATs and we have learnt that each MAT wants to do things in their own ways. So, we’ve built FrogConnect to allow that to happen. There are two models, Peer-to-Peer and Hub and Spoke In Peer-to-Peer, Frog schools connect to each other, if all your schools in your MAT use Frog, this is the simplest way to work together. With Hub and Spoke, you have a centralised Frog which serves as your MAT Intranet. This enables non-Frog schools to benefit from central policies, HR and training. Your Frog schools then get all the benefits of their own Frog, plus their shared resources. A new standalone MAT Intranet is the only cost you will be faced with if you use FrogConnect and the system is flexible enough that you can use one of your Frog schools as the intranet. If you’re interested in the Hub-and-spoke model, want to know more about costs or would like a meeting for your Trust team, please get in touch

Educational Consultants
MAT Intranet Delivery Release Management Support Educational Consultants Retentions Design Systems School A School B The most important thing with FrogConnect is not to be driven by the technology and to be driven by your vision. Demo For example, think about things like: Am I a teaching school Do I want an area for staff CPD What projects do we work on across the group? What could I share that will save me time and money – one source of the truth? Do my teachers move around that MAT and need different access at different schools? Who else do I work with? Do any of my schools not have Frog but I’d still like them to be able to access certain things? What about the governors of each school and the MAT? Where do they collaborate?
