1 UNH FSAE Electronics Jeff Cahill

2 Competition International FSAE competition is at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan on May Track events include skid pad, acceleration, autocross, and endurance Must pass technical inspection and adhere to the FSAE Rulebook Comprised of teams from all over the world

3 Overall Design Team is 6 subgroups (Powertrain, Aerodynamics, Suspension, Controls, Frame, and Electronics) and 15 members Each subgroup aims to implement improvements to last year’s vehicle Tools used for design include Solidworks, Multisim, Arduino Environment, Aero Software among others

4 Goals Data Acquisition Custom Dashboard Pneumatic Shifting
General Wiring Tuning Modifications

5 Data Aquisition Vehicle Engine Management System (VEMS) to output data serially with AIM Protocol Numerous sensors to log speeds, ratios, pressures, positions, temperatures etc. Realtime plots of aquired data Data collected could be used for this years vehicle and future ones to compare and optimize statistics VEMS AIM Protocol

6 Custom dashboard Speedometer, Tachometer, Gear Position Indicator
Dashboard will increase driver awareness on the track Likely done digitally using data from VEMS and a microcontroller

7 Electronic shifting Use pneumatics instead of a cable or motor
Shift using electronic signal in paddle or button shifters Prototype is already completed Issues include storing enough air under pressure and sensing the correct gear for the dashboard display

8 General wiring and tuning modifications
Wiring of sensors to interact with the VEMS VEMS tuning to increase shift speed and possibly increase efficiency, shift cut General wiring such as brake light, fusing, grounding to ensure safety, functionality, and adherence to competition rules
