Science Microworlds (STC Inquiry Kit): Using a variety of magnifying devices (including hand lenses, acrylic spheres, water drops, and microscopes), students examine everyday objects and microorganisms. Ecosystems (STC Inquiry Kit): Students construct a connected terrarium and aquarium, to observe the relationship between the two environments and the organisms living within them. They discuss pollutants, model ecosystems, and the compromises that must often be reached in ecosystems for survival. Mixtures and Solutions (FOSS Inquiry Kit): Students learn basic concepts of chemistry—mixture, dissolve, solution, concentration, saturation, reaction, evaporation, and crystal. They measure, mix, and compare solids and liquids, and observe and describe the interactions that result from their experiments.
