“Graphical Determination of LD50”
Summary: Students will test various concentrations of two chemicals on a test population of mice in NetLogo. They will observe the effect of the dosage on the mouse population and collect the resulting data in an Excel spreadsheet. Using Excel, students will graph the mortality rates of mice versus the dose concentration to determine the LD50 (lethal dose for 50% of a test population). Finally, students will answer questions regarding the use of LD50 values in toxicology.
