2 Who is Mrs. Grant-Jones I’ve earned a Bachelor of Science and Master’s at U of L I’ve been teaching for 14 years I’ve coached many sports & started Archery in Bullitt County in 2005. I’m involved in lots of activities such as Fuel up to Play60, 100 mile club, Hoops for Heart, and American Cancer Society My husband is Doug, a daughter Kendra & my son-in-law, Alan I also have two adorable dogs, Jazzie and Sadie New addition to our family is my grand dog Rusty

3 Course Description : Curriculum: **I can move correctly…a) Skills that will enable you to experience success in physical activity and health through sport and lifetime fitness. b) Biomechanical principles such as force, weight transfer, tracking, and follow through. c) Common strategies in sport and games **I can train myself and others…a) Benefits and exercise b) 5 components of fitness c) FITT principle **I participate regularly…a) 60 minutes of physical activity daily **I am fit…a) Presidential/National fitness testing to check our fitness/growth is encouraged b) Goal setting with our fitness **I can play fairly…a) Spirit of the game b) Self-officiating **I value physical activity, fitness and my health… a) Motivation to be active and the discipline to warm-up and workout on my own for the many benefits b) Must be active before class. Be a self-starter by performing the daily warm-ups before the start of class.

5 Health Topics: Personal Health and Wellness Nutrition Safety Diseases
Tobacco-Use Prevention Violence Prevention Alcohol and Other Drugs Health classes will be conducted on Fridays in room 148 Health Supplies: Will need (1) Roll of paper towels or (1) Box of Kleenexes

6 Clothing: : Athletic/Tennis shoes (only) (laces must be tightly tied) 2. A Complete change of athletic clothing must be worn at all times T-shirt/sweatpants, basketball shorts. 3. No tank tops allowed and No undergarments may be visible at anytime (Everything must be covered) Finger tip rule (shorts) and belly, chest and backside must be covered 4. Spandex must be worn under shorts and yoga pants must be approved by teacher before worn.

7 Expectations for Desired Behavior
Listening when the teacher is instructing Keep one’s hands and feet off others Performing promptly the activities presented by the teacher Wear proper clothing Be on time, Be safe, Be organized, Be accountable, and Be RESPECTFUL (SOAR Expectations)

9 Consequences for Undesired Behavior
1 First Misbehavior: The student is warned on a personal basis. 2 Second Misbehavior: The student is told to go to the designated penalty box area. Will reenter when ready to demonstrate desired behavior (per teacher’s choice) 3 Third Misbehavior: The student goes to the penalty box for the remainder of the period. If the misbehavior continues, the student will be put on the Behavioral Log and given a Minor/Office Discipline Referral (Depends on how severe the misbehaver)

10 Grading: 1. All assignments will receive a point value. Letter grades are based on a percentage of the total points possible Grading Scale: = A 89-80 = B 79-70 = C 69-60 = D Below 60= F Earning Participation Points: 5//5 daily points are earned for successfully completing the following three things: Arrive to class on time and sit in the proper roll call spot Wear the proper PE attire Participate throughout the entire lesson

11   Lockers: 1. One locker in the locker room will be assigned to 2 or 3 students. 2. Keep lockers closed during and after class 3. Valuable belongings (jewelry, purses, and wallets) must be locked at all times. Leaving valuables out will only invite theft.
