8. Prevention
Better Help for Smokers to Quit – improving Results range from 99% - 83% (2010/11 Quarter 4)
Breast feeding – improving
HPV – improving
Sun Protection - improving
Tobacco – hospital data reported; primary care data should be coming on line by the end of the year
Breast feeding - As of 2009, the majority of DHBs in the CCN region are yet to meet the national breastfeeding targets at six weeks, with even poorer results for Māori. Rates are better compared to targets for three and six months.
HPV – CCN results tend to be above the national average but below the target
Sun Protection – number of Sunsmart accredited schools in the region is increasing but is dependant on Cancer Society resources

10. Cervical Screening
As of September 2010, two CCN DHBs are just shy (by 1% or less) of meeting the 75% target for cervical screening coverage for their total populations. All other CCN DHBs exceed the target.
Rates for Maori, Pacific and Asian women increasing at a higher rate – gap closing.
Unable to provide up to date data at this stage
Target to be increased to 80% in 2013/14
Good initiatives around the region including:
Hawkes Bays Cervical and Breast Screening Steering Group and Integrated Health Promotion plan
MidCentral’s District Cervical Screening Group and plan
Whanganui’s recent Health Promotion Events for Pasifika Health Screening

11. Treatment
Radiation Oncology – consistently meeting the 4 week wait time target (100% receive treatment within 4 weeks)
Medical Oncology
all DHBs (CCDHB, MDHB, TDHB, TDH, HBDHB) are treating patients within 4 weeks of FSA
Variable results for wait times between receipt of referral and FSA
Bowel and lung cancer
MDM access is increasing but datasets are not complete
Wait time data currently being collated
