(A) Survival of patients with PBC (n = 46) compared with the age- and sex-matched Minnesota white population. Time 0 corresponds to the earliest time that the diagnosis of PBC could be established. Patients with PBC have significantly shorter survival than the population control (P < 0.01). (B) Survival of patients with PBC compared with the estimation made by the Mayo natural history model. Time 0 represents the earliest time complete data were available to apply the Mayo model (n = 41). The Mayo model accurately reflected actual patient survival (P = 0.69).
