THIRTY SECONDS IN HELL
2
“Is it an intolerable thing to burn part of thy body by holding it in the fire? What then will it be to suffer ten thousand times more for ever in hell?” (Baxter , 1861). “It is infinitely beyond the highest archangel's faculty to apprehend a thousandth part of the horror of the doom to eternal damnation” (John Foster, 1843). “All that are in Hell, choose it. Without that self-choice there could be no Hell” (C.S. Lewis).
3
For thirty seconds I am going to remain silent
For thirty seconds I am going to remain silent! It doesn’t seem like a long time until silence is experienced for 30 seconds.
4
Imagine your spirit has left your body
Imagine your spirit has left your body. Quickly you are jettisoned to a place called Tartarus. For thirty seconds you are going to experience the true meaning of torment.
5
I. WHAT DO YOU SEE?
6
A Great Multitude: Matt
A Great Multitude: Matt. 7:14, “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Luke 13:23, 24, “Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.”
7
Darkness: Matt. 8:12, “But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
8
Suffering: Luke 13:28, “There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.” Your eyes will behold people suffering!
9
The Great Separation: You will experience the separation between husband and wife, mother and daughter, father and son!
10
2 Sam. 18:33, “And the king was much moved, and went up to the chamber over the gate, and wept: and as he went, thus he said, O my son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! would God I had died for thee, O Absalom, my son, my son!” David’s grief was enhanced by the fact that Absalom was eternally lost!
11
Satan & his angels: Rev. 12:9, “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”
12
Jude 6, “And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.”
13
II. WHAT DO YOU FEEL?
14
Physically: Luke 16:24, “And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.”
15
Revelation 14:10, “The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb.”
16
Revelation 21:8, “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Revelation 20:10, “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”
17
Rev. 14:11, “And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever; and they have no rest day and night, those who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”
18
Matt. 13:41, 42, “The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire; in that place there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
19
Spiritually: 2 Thess. 1:9, “And these will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power.”
20
You pray, but God does not hear. You cry, but no comfort is given
You pray, but God does not hear! You cry, but no comfort is given! You plead, but no hope is offered!
21
III. WHAT DO YOU THINK?
22
“I will change!” Every soul in torment is pleading for a second chance. Whatever profession they were in life, they are willing to become a minister for the faith.
23
Luke 16:27-31, “Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.”
24
“I will be faithful. ” There are no faithless people in torment
“I will be faithful!” There are no faithless people in torment! There are no unbelievers, atheist, agnostics, or idolaters. Phil 2:10, 11, “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
