Mrs. Morano’s Pre-K News
Week of November 8, 2018 This week’s theme: Review of Units 1 & 2 Math ELA In math this week we practiced counting using one to one correspondence. Since it is review week, each day this week the children voted on a book to read from Units 1&2. We re-read Corduroy, Oonga, Boonga and Oscar is Cold, to name a few. We also reviewed all of the concept vocabulary words from the two units. Handwriting Our letter of the week was letter c. We practiced writing the letter C as well as thinking of words that start with the /c/ sound Science In our Science lesson we discussed the changing leaves of fall and read a non-fiction book to learn why the leaves change color. Social Studies We discussed personal safety and what we would do in the event of a Lock Down. I explained to the children that if a stranger came into the school, it could be that we may need to hide and remain very still. I assured them that Mrs. Beiter and I would ALWAYS keep them safe. On Wednesday, we had a drill and the children did a GREAT job! In fact, I gave each student a small sheet of stickers for doing so well! We also spent some time talking about Veteran’s Day and why we celebrate it. Religion . News & Reminders Thank you to the parents who volunteered to help with our Walk-a-thon. From snacks, to donations, to walking…. Everything was just great! Best of all the children had a good time Thank you to all of our Veterans and military service. Serving our country is a special calling for those who serve and their families. From the bottom of my heart I thank you for keeping my family safe. You and your families are always in my prayers! In Religion the children learned the Bible is like a love letter from God to them. They heard the story about David and Goliath. The children made a prayer book to use at home or in church .
