Figure 1 This Schema shows our hypothesis of diabetic nephropathy. Hyperglycemia activates PKC and increase connective tissue growth factor and TGF-β, which lead to mesangium expansion and nephromegaly. Mesangium expansion due to matrix deposition results in glomerular sclerosis and diabetic nephropathy.
