Essential Questions: Why do we have controversy in society? How do we communicate in order to convince others? Standard: ELASE6L6 – Acquire and use accurately grade-appropriate general academic and domain-specific words and phrases; gather vocabulary knowledge when considering a word or phrase important to comprehension or expression. Learning Targets: Identify claims. Elect your position on these claims. Support your claim with logical reasoning and relevant evidence.

SpringBoard Research Girls – Read p (Answer questions # 6-9) Boys – Read p (Answer questions # 11-14) Note: If you would rather read the other article, you are welcome to do so, despite your gender! Be sure to answer all of the questions, as we will have a debate at the end of class!
