2. The ‘Cultural Revolution’
Stalin was not just concerned with rapid industrialisation and collectivisation. He also wanted a ‘cultural revolution’ to change all elements of society.
The socialist future could only be achieved if society was transformed entirely. Old bourgeois attitudes had to be destroyed in order to create a ‘new Soviet Man’.
From the late 1920s and through the 1930s, the Cultural Revolution sought to completely change society. But was Stalin successful?

What failures did Stalin have in this area?
