Range A Range is an appliance that provides heat for cooking food.
Ranges are sometimes called stoves A range has two parts Cooktop>part of a range that cooks in a pot through heat produced by a surface unit Oven> part of a range that uses hot air to cook food in pans on shelves Convection/impingement oven blows hot air around to cook Convectional/thermal oven the hot air settles around the food and cooks Steam oven > an oven that cooks food by spraying superheated steam that is almost 600*f Combination oven have 2 or more oven types all in one Some oven come with warming drawers used to warm plates, bread, and let yeast dough rise Warming Drawer> A drawer that keeps cooked foods warm or hot until mealtime Exhaust Fan> is often used with a cooktop. The fan helps to remove smoke, oders, steam, and grease from the air

Induction cooktops have electromagnetic coils hidden under a glass cooktop surface. Helps conserve electricity because only the pot and food get hot When you buy appliances, look for labels from respected safety organizations. Many appliances have a UL seal from Underwriters Laboratories UL> Association that test electrical appliances

Range styles Slide-in and drop-in ranges are designed to fit between 2 counters Freestanding ranges are like slide-in and drop-in ranges, except their sides are not finished

Cleaning & care Cooktops should be cleaned after ever use. Spills may cause bacteria to grow and may attract insects and mice Wait until gas and electric surface are cool before cleaning Wipe down with a sponge or cloth
