Warm-up: CNN Student News
Watch and take notes on the video. Be prepared to discuss the material with the class and teacher. Take notes by writing facts. You will receive 1 point for every correctly written fact. Fact = Something that is true. George Washington is NOT a fact. George Washington was president IS a fact.

Course & Room Expectations Re-Cap
MP3 Device Use Reconsideration MP3 Device will be allowed during class but with rules: You cannot use the device during the opener/warm-up. You must be able to hear the teacher and follow directions. I should not be able to hear it. If I do, you will lose the privilege for that day. Only ONE (1) ear-bud allowed in ear during use.

Prediction Letters Write a letter to yourself predicting what is going to happen between now and the end of the school year. Can include any of the following: Academics Family Friends Relationships Sports Politics/News Celebrities Tv/Music Careers Must be in a letter format. Should be about 1 full page in length. Have fun with this. You will get these letters back towards the end of the year.

Course Posters Individually, or in groups (of 2 or 3) students will create a poster using words and symbols related to the course. As a group, brainstorm as many words as possible related to the course. Draw the picture and color/fill in using the words that the group came up with.

Primary Source Notes & Lecture
Primary Sources: Article / Document Photograph Video Poem / Song Music Physical Items Coins, shoes, papers, foods, clothes, cell phone, etc.

Secondary Source Something someone wrote about a primary source.
An interpretation. Textbook Novel / Fiction Website Wikipedia

Primary Source Essay Pretend that a natural disaster or calamity suddenly hits Las Vegas tomorrow and buries it without warning. No one survives and is buried for over 1000 years. Archeologists from the future are uncovering Las Vegas to learn more about the people who lived here. What would they be able to tell about you and your life by the evidence you have left behind? Standard 5 paragraphs (3-5 Sentences / Half a page).

Homework Primary Source Essay If not finished in class!

Closure 12 word summary. Alternate – Draw a picture of one thing learned. Share with a partner.
