Chief Scouts stands for: Belief and demonstration of: Setting goals for personal achievement Playing a visible role in your community Minimum of 30 hours of community service Demonstrating you can be a leader Among your peers In the community Mastering outdoor skills Knowledge of: Outdoor skills Maintenance for safe use of outdoor equipment Knowledge of local community World conservation activities Knowledge of scouting in the world First Aid certification 85% of these items may be covered in your 3 scout years if you ask 15% has to be done by at home Less than 5% of scouts achieve the Chief Scout Award Because most of you don’t ask your leaders to help you achieve this prestigious award

Earning The Chief Scout Award
Why should you be bothered with earning the Chief Scout Award? As an individual, you get to explore more fun and adventure Intentionally explore different Willingly expose yourself to more personal challenges Gain new insight into responsibility and maturity in your community Learn confidence in your own abilities for self belief and can do attitude. If you ask your leaders for help You’ll get it If you want to earn it You’ll get it. This is a very prestigious award and very few Scout youth manage to obtain it.

Earning The Chief Scout Award
Step 1: You must first become a Pioneer Scout Step 2: You then need to earn the Voyageur Scout Award Step 3: You then need to earn the Pathfinder Scout Award Step 4: Then… you can earn the Chief Scout Award

Pioneer Scout To come a Pioneer Scout the scout the following requirements must be met Know and understand the Scout Promise and Law. Know and understand the Scout Motto and Slogan. Know and understand the Scout Handshake, Salute and Sign, and the reasons Scouts use them. Participate in one Troop activity, preferably outdoors. If you have been invested. You are a Pioneer Scout

How easy is it to earn the Voyageur Scout award?
Very simple: You will become a Pioneer Scout in the first year Requirement #2: Earn 4 activity badges from 2 Challenge areas 7 Challenge areas Athletic Society Environment Home & Family Outdoor skills Personal development Science & Tech Requirement #3: One level of the Year Round Camping Award Attend minimum 1 weekend camp Requirement #4: Complete 4 Activity Badges Citizenship award can be carried in your meetings with a little bit of homework Leadership award – you demonstrate it Outdoor skills award - Attend weekend camps and at least 2 x 6 hour outdoor skills sessions Personal Development award – you tell us what you want to do and how you want to achieve it

FOR 1st YEAR SCOUTS You are just about to start… FOR 2nd YEAR SCOUTS Look at your Scout booklet You have likely already completed all of the requirements Have you checked? Remember… the onus is on you to tell us. FOR 3rd YEAR SCOUTS At the start of your third year…If your Scout leaders have done their job – you have already done more than the Voyageur Requirements and should be Check the requirements… Ask your leaders to help you check

You cannot achieve this award For 2nd year Scouts You can achieve this award. For 3rd year scouts You should easily achieve this award. You need to have done a weekend camp in Fall, Spring and Winter Attended 6 x 6 hour outdoor skills sessions Completed all of the Activity badge requirements ** This latter requirement is up to you.

Earn the Pathfinder award Requirement #2: Be qualified in Standard level 1st aid Requirement #3: Earned at least one activity badge from each of the 7 challenge activities Hold the World Conservation badge Present to your patrol Scout Canada’s involvement in world scouting Design a challenge program with your scout leader Minimum 30 hours community service You will have already done some of your Community service hours during your regular scout activities

Chief Scout Award 3rd year Scouts At the start of your 3rd year.
You should have already accomplished most of the Chief Scout award requirements At the start of your 3rd year. If you wish to aim for the Chief Scout award tell your Scout leader right away. A 3rd year scout can stay an extra year in scouts until they complete the Chief Scout award.
