The Short Term Effects of Opioids
The side effects of opioids may include itchiness, sedation, nausea, respiratory depression, constipation, and euphoria. Opioids are most often used medically to relieve pain, but when abused leads to a relieving anesthesia type feeling

The Long Term Effects of Opioids
The body adapts to the presence of the drug and withdrawal symptoms occur if use is reduced or stopped. These include restlessness, muscle and bone pain, insomnia, diarrhea, vomiting, and cold flashes with goose bumps.

People That Abuse In 2007, 2.5 million Americans abused prescription drugs for the first time, compared to 2.1 million who used marijuana for the first time. almost 50% of teens believe that taking prescription drugs is much safer than using illegal street drugs In 2015 more than 52,000 people died from a drug overdose; of those, percent involved an opioid.

Jail Time for Possession
With the exception of marijuana and schedule I depressants, all other controlled substances in the schedule carry the same penalty of 16 months: 2 or 3 years in jail. In cases of possession of a schedule I depressant, a one year jail sentence may be imposed.
