Conclusions the mean diurnal cycle of 2m T presents a large amplitude for inland stations; 2m T presents a pronunced cold bias nearest the sunset; different behaviour in forecast precipitation fields between coastal area and inland-mountain area strong spin down of precipitation during the first 6 h of integration; an higher precipitation overforecasting for the first 12 hours of day (d+1 and d+2) than the second 12 hours of day
