History The story begins at the bend of the XIX th century, when Gaston Duprat and his wife Justine decide to start up a wine trading business in Boucau. The period is prosperous with heavy consumption. In the 30s, his son Joseph takes over and gives a new kick off to the activity. With his two brothers, taking advantage of their fame in rugby they set out to conquer distribution outlets on the Basque coast. Unfortunately the war slows down the activity. After these difficult times, the next 30 years provide a very strong activity for the company. The distribution area is then extended throughout the Basque country and the Landes. The transformation of the economy and distribution leads the company to a new strategy. The third generation refocuses on the core of the business which is bottling and becomes a major supplier for retailers while also keeping the traditional activity of Cafes, Hotels and restaurants. Today, Vins Duprat Company remains the last independent wine bottler in the South West of France. In over a century of existence, we have successfully adapted to many changes in the market and invested in the Basque Country to remain a competitive company."
