Occurrences include the puzzle like fit of the continents, the match of glacial grooves, the occurrence of fossils of the same species on different continents, and the distribution of rock types and ancient climatic zones. Continental drift explained that these coincidences exist because at one time, all the continents were joined together in one large landmass.
