1. How do hazards affect a country?
Aim: 1.To understand know that a country may experience many types of hazard.
2. Maps need a symbols and a key to be understood.

2. Task One:
To research where the following natural hazards occur in the United States and to plot them onto the map using symbols and a key:
Tornadoes Hurricanes Earthquakes Volcanic Eruptions Avalanches Wildfires Flooding
A google web search could be used using key words e.g. Tornado+map+USA
REMEMBER! To write the names of the States where these hazards occur
Students should ensure that symbols are not too large, but can be easily identified!

8. Activity Two:
1. On your hazard map, which states have the highest amount of hazards?
2. For the State of California, write down when certain hazards occur in the year – You may have to find out more information through google searches!. (15 minutes)

9. Plenary
Can all hazards be predicted? Why not? Discuss and summarise in your books.
