Among 408 patients who underwent esophagectomy with gastric tube reconstruction via the posterior mediastinal route, 393 fulfilled the selection criteria. Among them, 197 patients had an FJT placed (FJT group) while in 196 patients no FJT was placed (no-FJT group). Propensity score–matched analysis was performed using the following covariates: age, sex, location of tumor, depth of tumor invasion, lymph node metastasis, fields of lymph node dissection, preoperative therapy, thoracic procedure, and abdominal procedure.
