5 Key Concepts Knowledge of development, learning and individual differences is the foundation of observation, screening, assessment, and observation. Observation is essential for gathering information and assessing children’s development and learning. Observation should be ongoing, across settings, and should include input from families. Assessment encompasses a variety of strategies that provide information about children’s development, learning, interests, strengths, and needs.

6 Key Concepts Assessment should be developmentally, culturally, and linguistically appropriate; focused on all domains of development; conducted over time. Include input from the families and reflect cultural understanding. Are used to inform planning for individual children’s learning and development. Key Concepts cont. 11 Time Allocation: PQ is allocating participating staff up to 2 hours per event. This include the WebEx meeting itself (1.25 hours) plus any advance reading/preparation that supports your participation in the PD event (up to .75 hours). Cost Code: Please charge your 2 hours to cost code: This cost code should already have been added to your intranet so you will be able to select it on your timesheet.
