Candidates must attend mock tryouts in order to try out before the judges Sponsors must receive prior notice and approve any absence from mocks A no-show without notification will result in automatic elimination from the tryout proceedings

20 Tryout Information On day of tryouts…all candidates must wear a plain white t-shirt or polo style shirt with plain black athletic shorts, white socks with tennis/cheer shoes. Hair in clean high pony…no bows, no jewelry. Tryouts are closed to everyone other than candidates, judges, Sponsors, and Administrators. Parents, friends and siblings are to remain outside of the school building. There are no call backs. All decisions are final. In the event of a tie for the last spot on a team, both candidates will be awarded the position.

21 Use of Video Due to Injury
In the case of a physical injury prior to the tryout, the Principal/Administrative designee must be notified for permission to deviate from the standardized tryout procedures. Video may only be used with administrative approval and only in the case of an injury that impairs a student from participating in a “specific skill” of the tryout. If video is used, only a small segment of the video that shows the “specific skill” done by the student prior to the tryout may be judged.  Video may not be used showing the individual performing in a competition setting, All-Stars, Nationals or in any other event while in uniform. A medical doctor’s note indicating the specific skill the student is incapable of performing will be required prior to video use. The video must be within the current school year. Prior to using the video, you must notify the Sponsors and will need to present a medical note explaining the candidate’s present injury. If you have any questions about your video, please feel free to call the Sponsor. As always, we hope the candidates remain healthy but we would like to take these precautionary measures to help each candidate receive a fair tryout.

22 Video Guidelines The candidate may not be wearing a uniform or any article of clothing that identifies him/her as a cheerleader, whether for school or an All-star squad. The video must contain any tumbling the candidate had planned to perform at the actual tryouts. If an injury occurs during tryout week, the video should contain material taught at the clinic up to the time of the injury. If the injury is so extensive that the candidate can no longer perform the material, he/she may use the video. The candidate may want to tape him/herself daily. Clips of the candidate practicing for other events during this school year may be included. The video used must be on a similar floor/mat that is used at try-out. A spring floor is unacceptable. In addition no spotter may be used. The video must be recorded prior to the date of the doctor’s note and must be approved by the Administration.
