He is not moved by our good works.
However much we may want to display our good works before God thinking this makes us deserving of His acceptance, our works, no matter how good or holy, remain totally insufficient to obligate God to care for us as His people

He is not moved by our good works.
He is moved by our desperation.
God is not moved by the works we are expected to do, but by our desperation and willingness to acknowledge our spiritual needs and that He is the only one who can meet those needs.

It should not be primarily because we hope to gain something.
It should be because we are thankful to God.
