2. What is heat?
Heat has been something scientists have been trying to figure out for years and years.
Up until the 1600’s, people thought heat was a combination of fire and air.
Hmmmmm…… interesting.

3. Finally! Scientists got it!
Heat is a form of energy.
The energy comes from the movement of tiny little particles.

4. Humans using THERMAL ENERGY
What is thermal energy?
The basic definition is HEAT

5. Humans need heat in order to survive
The four basic needs are:
Food
Shelter
Water
Exchange of gases
Heat is wrapped up in this….. Without heat (ESPECIALLY in CANADA)…. We build shelter to keep heat or cold away from us.

6. What is heat used for?
Used for cooking and keeping warm

7. Technology
Through the advancement of technology we have been able to control the use of thermal energy

8. Changes in needs and wants
The changes of our needs and wants have advanced the uses of different thermal sources.
From clothes drying on a line to electric dryers

9. From hair drying naturally to using a blow dryer

10. Making Sustainable Choices
REMEMBER:
Sustainability means that something that is being used is being replaced and the same rate.
We need to use our resources wisely and do as little damage as possible to the environment when we use them
