Component One: Physiological Factors Affecting Performance Assessment: 2 hour paper (90 marks) 30% of A Level Anatomy & Physiology Exercise Physiology Biomechanics Component Four: Practical Assessment & Coursework Assessment: On-going practical assessment and coursework interview (60 marks) 30% of A Level Practical Technical ability and tactical understanding as a performer or coach in one activity EAPI Coursework – 1 to 1 Interview Analysis of a peer’s performance in a chosen activity and the long-term planning of how to create improvement Component Two: Psychological Factors Affecting Performance Assessment: 1 hour paper (60 marks) 20% of A Level How the body learns and develops new skills Feedback and guidance Motivation and arousal Component Three: Socio-Cultural and Contemporary Issues Technological influences Ethics and deviance in sport Commercialisation of sport

6 FAQ’s Is PE an easy option? How do Universities view PE as an A Level?
Most definitely not As with all A Level subjects there is a significant step up from GCSE Pupils need to have a keen interest in all aspects of sport and how a wide range of social and scientific factors influence it How do Universities view PE as an A Level? It is now a well-respected subject. Universities are increasingly making this course a requirement for PE and Sport & Exercise Science Courses Competition to study these courses at the top Universities is extremely high and as a result, the subject is well-respected within the working world
