4 Is taught in 2 groups across year 4
Is taught in 2 groups across year 4. Both groups will cover the same objectives: the Autumn Term focus will be on Place Value/4 Operations and Fractions. Homework will be a mixture of calculation, problem solving, speed tables and arithmetic. Knowing times table facts up to 12x12 is essential. Reminder: All children are subscribed to Abacus online. Usernames and passwords can be found at the back of their planner. Also children have access to Times Tables Rockstars.

5 Our genres for this term are: stories with historical settings and explanation texts.
Guided Reading sessions are held weekly. SPAG (Spelling Grammar and Punctuation) lessons are taught weekly. Spellings will be taught weekly. The year 3/4 statutory spelling list can be found in the back of the pupil planner.

6 Our topics for this term are:
Electricity and Properties of materials (Linked with Roman Invasion). There are useful resources on the BBC website. Outdoor learning opportunities.

7 PSHE: A new scheme called Jigsaw brings together PSHE education, emotional literacy, social skills and spiritual development in a comprehensive scheme of learning. Autumn 1, Being me in my world Autumn 2, Celebrating difference Spring 1, Dreams and Goals Spring 2, Healthy Me Summer 1 Relationships Summer 2, Changing me (including sex education) Financial education will also be covered.

8 RE: How can a synagogue help us to understand the Jewish faith
RE: How can a synagogue help us to understand the Jewish faith? Why do Christians call god father? How can artists help us understand Christmas?

9 The school has invested in an exciting scheme: Primary Connected Geography and History. This is an enquiry based scheme led by innovative key questions. The children are taught important subject knowledge, whilst allowing sufficient time for mastering key subject skills, and challenging outcomes through investigating at greater depth. ART : War artists and cityscapes. DT: Making a Roman Catapult PE: Taught by specialist Sports Coaches and Class Teachers. Named PE Kit should be in school Monday to Friday. Plimsolls for indoor PE sessions and trainers for outdoor are expected. Navy tracksuits are allowed in colder months. Watches and earrings must be removed by the children for PE lessons.

12 Children are expected to read 5x per week for 20 mins
Children are expected to read 5x per week for 20 mins. This should be recorded in their Homework Planner and signed weekly by a parent/adult. Homework for Maths and English are given out on a Monday and due in on Thursday. Spelling lists are set regularly Homework should take no longer than 20 minutes or longer if a child is happy to continue. On occasion, science, topic or art homework may be given as well as online tasks. We encourage parents to support their child with their learning as much as possible.
