Matt.19:5,6– “5 and said, For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh? 6 So that they are no more two, but one flesh. …” To glue or cement together If one flesh, then one spirit His devotion now is to his wife He must not allow anything to interfere with this bonding process

Eph.5:23– “For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, being himself the saviour of the body.” He is not a dictator He is to provide the leadership the family requires “AS” Christ is head of church HE bears leadership responsibility Eph.6:4; cf.Josh.24:15

1 Pet.3:7– “Ye husbands, in like manner, dwell with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor unto the woman, as unto the weaker vessel, as being also joint-heirs of the grace of life; to the end that your prayers be not hindered.” Honor is manifestation of respect Suggests respect, esteem and treatment expressive of honor

1 Pet.3:7– “Ye husbands, in like manner, dwell with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor unto the woman, as unto the weaker vessel, as being also joint-heirs of the grace of life; to the end that your prayers be not hindered.” He knows God’s will, his own role in the home, all her contributions to the family, her concerns, etc…
