1 MHHSE Library Year-End Report

2 Goals Increase circulation of books to students at least 100% Goal of at least 7,916 student checkouts Student Checkouts As of April 16, students had checked out 4,544 books this year, 525 more than last year! But not quite our goal… (5,302 total circulations if you include iPads)

Goal = 312 students Actual (4/16) = 231 students

4 2011-2012 Goals Every student checks out at least 1 book.
As of April 24, 2012… 718 of 1411 students had not checked out anything during this school year. Most popular reasons why students don’t use the library… I don’t like to read. You don’t have books I like. I used to read, but I don’t have time anymore. 21% or about 1 of every 5 students are non-readers! 299 students have NEVER checked out anything… This includes middle school records for this year’s freshmen.

6 Funding Last year, we received $4,500 from HCBOE ($3.14 per student based on 1435 – Mar enrollment) Added 582 books and 20 AV materials = $11, value. This year, we received $5,967 from HCBOE ($4.21 per student based on 1416 – Nov enrollment) Added 746 books and 30 AV materials = $13, value

7 Meritor Donation $1200 Allowed for purchase of 85 new titles in Science & Math 68 total circs from this collection this year Compare to 166 total circs this year in entire 500s (Science & Math) section

8 VGT4 (4th Annual Video Game Tournament) = $48

500s – Science & Math books books = 756 total items Avg © from 1970 to 1980 300s – Social Sciences books = 1,290 total items Avg © from 1981 to 1985 (1978 last year)

11 Independent Use As of April 30, we had 12,614 independent visits this year, 260 less than last year… primarily due to closure during March/April for re-wiring (lost 11 days). Averaged 134 more students per month comparing Aug-Feb this year vs. last year.

16 Goals Increase percentage of students checking out books from the library. Goal of at least 70% of students checking out at least 1 book. Only 51% of students checked out at least 1 book this year. Objectives: Gather data about our “non-readers” to pinpoint marketing to these students Booktalk in classes with many “non-readers” SSR training for teachers
