Cyber Smart Cyber Safe Day 1, K-3 Slide 3 Say:
“Computers are wonderful tools that help us learn things about people and places. We can play games on the computer that teach us new things. Computers can also take us to a place we call CyberSpace where there’s information that can help us work and play.”

Cyber Smart Cyber Safe Day 1, K-3 Slide 4 Say:
“Another name for CyberSpace is the Internet. The Internet has lots of interesting websites you can visit and lots of fun things to do too. But just like the real world, the Internet is not a place you should go by yourself. It’s sort of like crossing the street to go to the store. It’s important to know the rules to cross the street safely. Ask Students: “What are some of the rules you know for crossing the street?” Discuss: Briefly discuss some of the children’s responses which will probably include “look both ways”, “hold hands”, “wait for the green light”, etc.

Cyber Smart Cyber Safe CyberSafety Rule Always get permission from an adult before using the Internet Day 1, K-3 Slide 5 Say: “Being on the Internet safely is kind of like crossing the street safely. You should know the rules and have a grown-up with you to be safe. When you cross the street, it’s a good idea to have someone hold your hand. When you use the Internet, the first rule is: Always get permission from an adult first and get someone older to help you. Having an adult help you on the Internet is like having someone hold your hand to cross the street.”

Cyber Smart Cyber Safe CyberSafety Rule Never give personal information about yourself without adult permission Day 1, K-3 Slide 6 Say: “One reason it’s important to have an adult help you is that sometimes the places you visit on the Internet will try to ask you questions about yourself. Even places where you go to play games sometimes want to know who you are before you can play.” “So, the second important rule for the Internet is: always ask an adult if it’s okay to give information about yourself, especially things like your name or where you live or how old you are.”

Cyber Smart Cyber Safe Rules We have Learned Always get permission from an adult before using the Internet Never give personal information about yourself without adult permission Day 1, K-3 Slide 7 Say: “Let’ summarize the Internet rules we’ve learned so far. Raise your hand if you can remind the class of the two things we should remember about using the Internet safely. ” Discuss: Always get permission from an adult before using the Internet. Never give personal information about yourself without adult permission. *If time allows, ask if students have any questions.
