After upgrading to Release 6, you can choose to start working with Tally.ERP 9 in one of the following ways: Note: The options below are applicable for all these versions of Tally.ERP 9 - Tally 8.1, Tally 9, Tally.ERP 9 Release 1.0 to Tally.ERP 9 Release Open your existing company in Release 6 and continue your business as usual [Option 1] This is the simplest option. Open your company in Tally.ERP 9 Release 6 and follow on screen instructions. Once the data is converted, get started with GST. For Tally 7.2 or lower, download the tool Tally72migration.exe, and upgrade your data using this tool. After the upgrade, you can open your data in Release 6. Open your existing company in Release 6 and split your company [Option 2] Open your company in Tally.ERP 9 Release 6 and follow on screen instructions. Then, split your company. For Tally 7.2 or lower, download the tool Tally72migration.exe, and upgrade your data using this tool. After the upgrade, you can open your data in Release 6, and split the company. Create a new company in Release 6 and start afresh for GST [Option 3] Go to Company Info. > Create Company. Create all required masters afresh. Or Export masters from your company in the older version of Tally.ERP 9 with the closing balances as on 30th June. In the new company in Release 6, import these masters. Once the masters are imported, you can get started with GST. Enjoy your GST journey with Tally.ERP 9!

Release 6.0 provides flexibility to define GST Tax Rate % at various levels–
Company Stock Group While raising Invoices, Tally will check for the definition at Voucher first, if not found will jump to the next level as shown Define here if you are dealing in single HSN/SAC GST Rate Stock Sub-Group Stock Item Accounting Group Define here if a particular stock item’s HSN/SAC GST Rate is different from the Rate defined at Group / Company level Define here if you are dealing in multiple HSN/SAC GST Rate Accounting Ledger Transaction Level Create Separate Sales / Purchases ledgers, if you are dealing in Goods as well as Services. And define the GST rates here. As an exceptional case, you may override the definition defined at above levels at transaction level, if you wish to.
