Digital Citizenship Students and staff should...
live safely and civilly in an increasingly digital world. recognize that information on the internet is public and permanent and can have a long-term effect on one’s life and career.

Personal Electronic Devices
Students and staff may use devices to further education and research. School staff maintains final authority in deciding when and how devices are used on school grounds during the school day.

Network ALL USE OF THE NETWORK MUST SUPPORT EDUCATION AND RESEARCH AND BE CONSISTENT WITH THE MISSION OF THE DISTRICT.

Acceptable Network Use
CREATE files, projects, videos, webcasts, podcasts, in support of education and research PARTICIPATE in groups or social sites that support education and research PUBLISH (with parental permission) original material (cite outside sources)

Unacceptable Use Any commercial use Anything that costs the district
Installing outside games/files/apps without permission Any political use Hacking/vandalism/spreading viruses, etc. Unauthorized access Anything harmful to self or others (cyberbulling, sharing dangerous information, sharing or accessing anything obscene) Attaching unauthorized devices

Internet Safety No personal information (address, phone number,etc.) should be given out about yourself or another student. Pictures or names should not be published without student permission. Notify someone if you encounter inappropriate information or messages.

Filtering and Monitoring
Filtering software is in place according to Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) not 100% effective; every user must take responsibility any attempts to defeat or bypass filtering software are prohibited adults are expected to help monitor this

Internet Safety Adults and students will be educated with age-appropriate materials about online behavior such as social networking, cyberbullying, and online predator awareness.

Copyright Downloading, copying, duplicating and distributing software, music, sound files, movies, images or other copyrighted materials without the specific permission of the owner is prohibited. However, some duplication for educational purposes is permitted as outlined in the Fair Use Doctrine of the United States Copyright Law.

Ownership of Work Work completed by students as part of the instructional program is considered owned by the student. Staff members must obtain a student’s permission before distributing student work to parties outside the school.

Network Security and Privacy
Student data is confidential. District has the right to monitor all , files, and internet access. Students should keep passwords private. Do not use another’s account. Remember to log off.

Disciplinary Action All users of the district’s electronic resources are expected to comply. VIOLATION OF THESE POLICIES COULD BE CAUSE FOR DISCIPLINARY ACTION, INCLUDING SUSPENSION OR EXPULSION FROM SCHOOL AND SUSPENSION OR REVOCATION OF NETWORK AND COMPUTER ACCESS PRIVILEGES.
