1. Download and Install Process Explorer

This is so easy even a Mac user can do it.

2. Download
Either follow the link posted in the thread, click here , or cut and paste this into your browser  or you can Google search ‘Process Explorer’ if it will make you feel warm and fuzzy……
Three different ways, you can’t even get a hamburger with that many choices.

3. Insist on only ‘Genuine’ Microsoft Bloatware
A couple of gigs to install Vista, but none of the tools you really need. Tell me I’m wrong on this.

4. Right click on download
Right next to the big blue arrow……

5. Click “Open”
Choose “Open”

6. Open and Unarchive
Once the file finishes downloading, click “Open” again
The last ‘open’ was so much fun, let’s do it again!

7. Pick An Easy Place
Unarchive the file to someplace you can easily find, it does NOT install as a permanent process (Read=we’re going to have to open and run it manually)
Once the file has extracted to the directory you specified, close the archive program out.
I wear bifocals and I can’t remember where I left my car keys some days. If you’re reading this it’s probably because you’re having problems. Make it easy on yourself. Don’t stash this twenty directories deep and then whine when you can’t find it. Be smart. Put it on your desktop.

8. Extra points for using unregistered shareware
Really, I do like WINRAR, I just have this disorder where I need to evaluate stuff a lot. I promise I’m going to send them money Tomorrow.

9. Locate and open the folder
I un-archived mine on the Desktop to the folder “ProcessExplorer”. This is not my normal wallpaper but I’m trying to keep this “G” rated.

10. Right Click On ‘procexp’ and choose “Run As Administrator”
While you can, of course, just ‘open’ it, it will prevent you from taking advantage of some features.

11. If you did everything right, this is what you should see

12. WE’RE DONE!
You should at this point have an up and working copy of “Process Explorer”.
If you don’t, and nothing in this explains it the way it should, either post a reply or PM me on the board and I will try to help.
I will post a second PPT to explain how to sort the information into a more useful view and then, save it.
