4. China’s 1st Emperor
For the next two days we will be learning about China’s first emperor, Shi Huangdi.
He ruled the Qin people.
Because Qin is sometimes spelled Ch’in, the name China comes from the Qin dynasty.

Then, you will start on a biography for Shi Huangdi.
In the biography, write about who Shi Huangdi was and about his accomplishments.
With your group, read page 150 about China’s first emperor.
As you read, record his 4 major accomplishments.

In creating these accomplishments, he was able to do a lot of good.
However, he also did things that were harmful.

Next: You have probably seen “before” and “after” pictures in advertisements. You are going to make “before” and “after” pictures about China before the rule of Shi Huangdi and after.
Each picture should illustrate one part of Chinese life:
