Humanism emphasized the actions and abilities of humans, renewal of classical culture, and realism in art. 1b. How did ancient texts and statues affect Renaissance art? They inspired interest in Greek and Roman accomplishments.

background figures smaller, lines diagonal, colors to show distance, sfumato, perspective... 3b. What are some characteristics of art by Raphael, Botticelli, and Titan? Raphael showed people with clear personalities. Botticelli used fine detail. Titan make scenes from classical myths. 4b. How did the choice of school subjects change during the Renaissance? Today we study the humanities in school including the arts, literature, history, science, etc...

Before the Renaissance, everything had to be copied by hand!
Only Churches had copies of the Bible. You could read it, you had to go to church to hear someone read it to you. The Church “owned” all the knowledge.
