2. Activity 1 Objectives
Students will be able to identify at least two features of their neighborhoods that make them desirable places to live.
Students will be able to explain the importance of trees to a neighborhood and community.

3. Let’s Draw
With paper and colored pencils, crayons or markers provided, please draw a picture or map of your neighborhood or school area.
Be sure to include all buildings and natural features such as trees, shrubs, grass, animals, etc.
Please include a key or label your drawing.

4. Let’s Discuss
With a partner or small group, please… Create a list of features that make a good neighborhood. Create a list of characteristics of good neighbors. What makes someone a good neighbor? Be prepared to explain your reasoning

5. Neighborhoods Make Communities
Where can neighbors meet to visit, both indoors and outdoors?
What makes these places nice places to visit with neighbors?
How would you define “Community”?
What are the benefits of TREES to your community?
