2 Solstice Gas Fired Fryer
Performance, Efficiency, Easy to Own

3 Pitco History 1918 Founded by John C. Pitman in Boston, MA
1950 moved from Massachusetts to New Hampshire 1981 Blodgett Corp purchases J.C. Pitman and named it Pitco Frialator Pitco manufacturers more than 135 models of both gas and electric frying equipment

4 What hasn’t changed Heat Transfer Area
Pitco has up to 30% more heat transfer area compared to Brand 'X' By heating the oil from the bottom up, Brand 'X' has a smaller, less dispersed heat transfer area

5 The Cool Zone Pitco's cool zone is larger. The tube fired design creates a substantially larger cool zone for trapping particles thus prolonging oil life and reducing taste transfer Brand 'X' bottom-fired fryers have a cool zone limited in size by the shape of the tank design and the burner placement

6 Smart Simple Design Solstice Model SG14 3-burner 35C
(4 burner 45C shown) Solstice Model SG14 Smart Simple Design

7 35C Economy Fryer 3 tubes – Nat gas or LP
Cast iron burners (Heritage style) Stainless steel tank as standard, with 5 year parts warranty Manufactured to highest standard Easy to supply – only a ¾” gas line req’d, no electrics

8 35C Control Components Robertshaw Unitrol Mv Gas Valve
Robertshaw GS Thermostat Robertshaw Hi-Limit Thermocouple Note: The GS thermostat is relatively trouble free but will run away if the gas tubing leaks. We are consolidating part numbers may be different. (high limits, relays)

11 Robotic Welding Consistent and uniform welding process
Unsurpassed accuracy World Class Quality (some competitors manufacture a new tank for EVERY fryer they manufacture!) Solstice tanks, in accelerated conditions, have never been replaced

12 Pressure Blasted Tanks
Pitco tanks aren’t ground, they’re pressure blasted for a smoother surface and easier cleaning High tolerances at pressure points No welding scorch marks All tanks are pressure tested 3 times during manufacture to ensure 100% reliability Hand-finishing Pressure blasting Finished Tank

13 Solstice Gas Fryers Fry tanks are completely pressure
blasted to clean and relieve stress at weld points, while smoothing surfaces for easier cleaning Special heating tubes feature high temperature, alloy stainless steel baffles for long life. Extremely large cool zone minimizes costly oil breakdowns, carbonization, and taste transfer Tube fired fryers require no extra insulation on the outside of the tank, making the fryer easier to service and eliminating the chance of capturing grease Pitco's 1 1/4" full port (I.D.) drains quickly and without clogging

14 Solstice Fryer Benefits
Improved Efficiency Common Cabinet Design Stainless steel side panels Universal Control Harness Smart Layout More User Friendly

15 Solid Cabinet Design New, stainless cabinet sides ~ standard
Easy to clean, rust resistant, preferred appearance Common front to back dimensions and drain height Easy to spec, mix & match any SG fryer in any configuration with or without integrated or portable filtration Asked for by consultants and customers Robust boxed-steel reinforced design Long life in tough restaurant environment Heavy-duty, double-skinned wide swing door Easy access, long lasting, insulated to reduce surface temp

16 New Solstice Burner Exclusive baffle design now squeezes out more heat
More primary air is drawn in Exclusive baffle design now squeezes out more heat Flame has a longer path Baffle gets "radiant" faster

17 Exclusive Solstice Burner
New, efficient inverted burner design Air is drawn high inside the cabinet Since hot air rises, inlet air is pre-heated Dust is less likely to be drawn into the burner Unique air flow cools front panel area Creates open space in cabinet for easy cleaning and service access

19 Baffled? How can you squeeze out more heat? Here’s how:
Inside the heat tubes is a new stainless steel baffle design that slows down the flame so tubes heat evenly and efficiently transfer more heat to the oil Since more heat is squeezed out of the flame, flue temperature is reduced Old fryers 1100 to 1200 F° New fryers 800 to 900 F°

21 Behind the Computer

22 When you open the door

23 Ease of Service Front panel mounted controls
Easy Access Individual fryer shut off valves Service one unit while adjacent fryer continues to work Large fitting reduces chance of clogging Dual "union" gas valve connectors Speed and ease of component replacement Common wire harness

24 Shut off Valves

25 Gas Valve Connectors

26 Quality Enhancements Exclusive new burner design
Better in-stock service Enhanced tank design Sculptured sides for added strength Extensive field testing

27 Pitco Gas Fryer Options
Mild steel tank (No longer available in UK) Stainless tank (Standard on all fryers in UK) All stainless steel (Front/door & sides are always stainless)??? SS back panel optional Gas manifold --- Rear Drain valve interlock switch (Not on MI/volt fryers) Back up Thermostat (Computer option only)

28 SG Safety Controls (CE Millivolt)
High limit Thermocouple Pilot Coil

29 Safety Control Explanation Overview
Pilot heats the Thermocouple generating DC voltage ( mVolt) DC Current flows through the High Limit to: Pilot Coil The energized coil generates magnetism. The magnetism holds the pilot valve open, allowing gas to flow to the main valve.

30 SG Operating Controls (CE Millivolt)
Thermostat Thermopile Main Coil

31 Operating Control Explanation Overview
Pilot heats the Thermopile generating DC voltage ( mVolt open circuit) DC Current flows through the Thermostat to Main Coil which energizes the main valve. TH,TP TH TP

32 Wiring Diagram (Door) Hi Limit , Thermocouple, “Radex” Wire Ass’y
-- same as existing Thermopile, Thermostat, Gas valve -- new parts. Gas valve -- similar to CE Heritage standing pilot but has Millivolt actuator in place of 24VAC.

33 Control Adjustments & Checks
Thermocouple Pilot should be adjusted to give 25-35mvolt Adjustment Check supply gas pressure is between 15 & 24mbar for Nat. Light pilot Attach volt meter across ground & a Hi-Limit connection Remove screw, adjust to mv & replace screw

34 Control Adjustments & Checks
Pilot Assembly Gas Valve, Pressure Regulator

35 Control Adjustments & Checks
Combination Gas Control Check out Turn on shut off valve Check incoming gas pressure is between 15 & 24mbar for Nat. Light pilot Check burner manifold pressure is 10mbar.

36 Smart Simple Filtration Design
Easy to service Easy to operate Easy to clean
