This powerpoint can be utilized to introduce the vocabulary words for My Diary From Here to There. Each word should utilized the Define, Example, Ask routine that is found in the Treasures teacher’s edition and the Routine Handbook. 3 Vocabulary Word Introduction
Read the word chorally Define the word: Read it chorally Example: Let the teacher give an example Ask: The teacher will ask you a question about the word. Tell your answer to your partner. Isabelle Beck’s routine includes: Introduce the word: “A word in the story we will be reading is…….” Define the word with the class. Example: Give an example of the word in a sentence. Ask: Ask the students To think of an incident when they interacted with the word. Have them discuss it with a partner (see the TE for exact us. This routine is also on the back of the vocabulary cards.) Follow this routine for each of the vocabulary words that are introduced/follow this slide.
