In mice subjected to unilateral ischemia–reperfusion injury (IRI), injured epithelial cells can be seen 2 days after IRI (top). Ki67-positive cells are rarely observed in the uninjured kidney in either cortex (middle) or medulla (right), whereas numerous intratubular Ki67 (green, nucleus) and RFP (red) double-positive cells are seen in 2-day-postischemic kidney.
