Modernisation of social statistics: latest developments
Very diverging views: Council: number of variables, restricted scope, limiting changes, against using input harmonisation, supports use of implementing acts European Parliament: trusts Commission on variables and changes, extended scope (also collective households), in favour of input harmonisation, and supports the use of delegated acts. In favour of a periodicity of every 5 years for AES (every 6 years in Commission proposal)

Timetable for the implementation of the future LFS and AES
Five implementing measures of the IESS FR to be developed and adopted before the first year of implementation of the new LFS and AES Three refer to all or several domains: An implementing measure with items common to several data sets: common variables; statistical classifications; definition of population/usual residence; households; child and dependent child Common act on quality Implementing measure with the planning over a period of eight years

Timetable for the implementation of the future LFS and AES
One implementing measure (IM) for LFS and one for AES LFS IM with all LFS technical elements of the core LFS and the modules implemented in 2019, 2020 and 2021 to be ready by mid-2018 at the latest AES IM with all 2022 AES technical elements to be ready in early 2020 for the consultation process (ETS WG, Directors of Social Statistics – DSS)
