A Peek at This Week in… Mrs. McFarland’s Class Week of September 5th Reminders *Make sure your student is checking their agenda nightly! Assignments can be found on the northmacschools.org website under the tab Intermediate School. Then click on 5th grade and select the Assignments link. If there is a change in how your student will be getting home, please write a note in your student’s agenda. Thank you! Math (Wernsing) Introduction to decimals Reading (Webster) Unit 1, Week 3: Common Ground-On what are friendships built? Topics and skills covered: inferencing, descriptive language, plot, paraphrasing, and prefixes meaning “not” or “opposite of” are emphasized. Test on Friday. Remember to read for AR! Points are due Thursday, September 29th. Red group needs 3 pts, yellow group 4 pts, and green group 5 pts. Reward is Whirl-a-Whip!! Start reading for AR! Your reward in September will be yummy!! Spelling (Webster) Long i and o pattern; test Friday. Language Arts/Writing (Webster) Upcoming Events Monday, September 5th: Labor Day (No School) Wednesday, September 14th: Early 1:30p; progress reports go home Thursday, September 15th: Open House and Book Fair; Book Fair 6:15p Monday, September 19th: Grandparents’ Day 12:30p-2:40p Friday, September 23rd: Homecoming; early 6 Traits of Writing Science/ Social Studies (McFarland) Science: Drops on a Penny lab; review of lab safety and scientific method. Social Studies: Map reading skills and Ch. 1, L#2 vocab.
