2. Goal To create the best CAD user experience between the CAD authoring tool and the Aras PLM server.
To facilitate open/save from an authoring tool i.e. AutoCAD / AutoCAD LT, to Aras PLM server.
To control of CAD document editing to avoid conflicts and data corruption.
To ease access and CAD document finding.
To ease CAD document version finding.
To ease metadata access.

3. Features
Open document. Convenient open dialog and “last used document” shortcuts are provided to automatically download and open document in native authoring tool.
Save: Can use regular authoring tool save button to update the Aras server copy, avoiding manual download and upload operation
Lock and unlock: CADtoPLM will read locking information and will open the document in the authoring tool as write or read only depending on the user lock permissions.
Configurable lock operation: CADtoPLM allows to automate the lock of a document when it is opened, so it can be edited by the user and unlock it when is closed, to allow others to work on the document.
Revisions: Look all document revision and open them to the authoring tool with a click.
External references: CADtoPLM will automatically download AutoCAD dwg drawings external reference from Aras server so they can be displayed in the host drawing. CADtoPLM external references manager allows xrefs to be opened for editing, reloading, checking their properties and xrefs locking and unlocking.
